But not as the Earth-2 Kryptonian we have always known and loved.

Her civilian identity Karen Starr - CEO of Starrware Industries - appears in the debut issue of Mister Terrific, and is "friends" with Mr. Terrific himself. Well, putting it more explicitly: they are fuck buddies. 

Love that jersey color.

Latest Comic Book Reviews (06.23.2011) - Wolverine #11 | Power Girl #25 | Superman #712

I'ma skip the daily news first and give some of my thoughts for comic books I read a couple of hours ago.

Wolverine continues his bloody battle against the Red Right Hand, and my beloved PeeGee teams up with the godddamn Batman against a weather-controlling metahuman, and finally, the Grounded storyline takes a one issue hiatus (mainly because DC decided to scrap the original storyline that features a Muslim superhero in LA), giving way for Kurt Busiek's "lost" Krypto tale, circa 2007 (a.k.a the events after Infinite Crisis).

2011 DC Reboot: The Future Of Power Girl... Harras & Berganza Answers Questions On DC Revamp [LINK]

Here's a snippet of an interview conducted by Sara "Babs" Lima for ComicVine with DC Editor-In-Chief Bob Harras  and Executive Editor Eddie Berganza concerning the status of Power Girl in the newly revamped DC Universe:

CV: Will we be seeing Power Girl in the future?

Bob: Yeah, she'll be around. 

CV: But not in her own title?

Bob: No, she won't have her own #1 title, but Karen Starr will appear in one of the 52 titles.

This is what I was afraid of. Just when I thought that Peej would have that chance to breakout from obscurity (and the stereotype of being just a "cheesecake heroine with big boobs"),  DC reboots and walla!!! No more Peegee .

I truly enjoyed that series to be honest and it was one of the monthly books I was looking forward to read, and now its gone for good. Peej is back to being a supporting character... again.

2011 DC Reboot Thoughts: So... It Has All Come To This...

Heroes Lost.

... no Justice Society of America (the first ever superhero team in comic book history)

... no Justice League International.

... no signs of Captain Marvel and his family (come on, DC couldn't exist without S!H!A!Z!A!M!)

...and the most disappointing of all, no Power Girl - which is one of the best titles DC has asides from the Batman books.

But I'm confident that DC has these guys somewhere. They will surface sooner or later.

Or maybe not (that would be a travesty). 

Latest Comic Book Reviews (05.21.2011) - Power Girl #24 and Alpha Flight (v4) 0.1

Got a chance to read two superhero comic books today featuring one of my second favorite Kryptonian (next to Superman) and the return of Marvel Comics' premiere Canadian superteam. Both books we're really good so I decided to write a review for them. 

You know the drill:  titles are rated by the number of stars I give them, with 5 stars being the highest. That means if a title gets a rare 5 stars, then that should be really m'effin good!

Comparing it with these two sample covers from Amanda Conner and Sami Basri who have both done a great job on their own runs with PeeGee. Conner's PG was a little bit cartoony but complete showed the feistyness and often times, cockiness of the heroine; while Basri's art was more anime/manga influenced, showing a more determined and "realistic" version of Power Girl. Both versions are still sexy, but they put more emphasis to the character and her unique traits, rather than depicting her as a mere sex symbol with the curvylicious body and big breasts.

So based on that, I have to agree with dcwomenkickingass' statement that the cover by Louw is gotta be the "porniest" PG rendition ever. I'm a big fan of porn, and I kind of like the #27 cover to be honest. I'm a guy so its kind of automatic (I know a lot of women will hate me on this).

Yeah its all cheesecake art, with the tits and the private part almost showing with that thin covering, punctuated by the black maskara over the eyes that completes the begging "fuckface"/"sexface" tone all over PeeGee. It actually qualifies for Penthouse Comix.. I like it. Its not that bad to have a little bit of the erotic in mainstream comics, you know.

Never thought I would find myself reading a comic book with a superheroine as the main protagonist, let alone reviewing it, but here I am folks, writing quite a long review to express my thoughts on this title.

Power Girl is one of the hottest (yes, pun intended) ongoing titles that DC Comics is offering right now and it started with the first twelve issues helmed by the husband-and-wife team of writer Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner together with Justin Gray in July of 2009. At first I was a little bit skeptical about reading the series mainly because I was never a fan of Peej - except for her big boobies - but I'm glad I gave it a chance. 

It starts off with issue # 1 titled "New Beginning" with Power Girl (Kara Zor-L) once again assuming the identity of Karen Starr (this could be a great pornstar name to be honest), a business-woman and CEO of Starrware Industries - her own company which she decided to revive in the city of New York. She's also got a new friend named Atlee who is actually the superhero-in-training named Terra, who has the ability to control anything made of rock or earthly substances at her will. 

Over the course of the series, we get to see  super-villains and other alien beings coming over taking their own shot at PG. Her first encounter was with an intelligent monster named Ultra-Humanite who is holding the entire city hostage hoping that Power Girl would give up her body so that he can transfer his brain to Peej's more powerful bod. Right after that she's got to deal with 3 alien princesses who started wreaking havoc on Earth, and then, in my most favorite arc in this series,a guy named Vartox (who I'm damn sure is a Peter North/Ron Jeremy hybrid) from an alien planet called Valeron comes crashing in and tries to seduce PeeGee into being his mate so that his "impotent" planet could survive  (thus preventing his race's extinction) after being blown completely by a "contraceptive bomb" courtesy of a hostile race, and... so much more.
