Why Superman Is The Greatest Comic Book Character

He's the man that started it all. The archetype for the modern superhero. The brainchild of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, who for more than 70 years is still ripping that shirt off, taking over the skies and saving the world... Superman. 

There are superheroes that are way cooler than him - like Batman for example. Billionaire playboy, has nifty gadgets, and basically is better than the Clark Kent who works as a newspaper journalist, walks to his office and gets yelled by his boss every day, right?

But still, i like Superman. Hell, i LOVE Superman. I've got him all over the place, be it action figures, mugs, dvds, and even in my blog! There I said it. Does that make me a gay now? LOL. 

Back to the question. Why him? Is it because of the superpowers?

Yeah, having x-ray vision, invulnerability, super senses and the ability to defy gravity is cool, sure. But that's not it.

Is it the costume? 

Hell, no! His costume is way too colorful, and he wears briefs outside of his tights! How the hell would I like his costume? So nah.

But you know what? Every time I see, scribble or draw this symbol...... whenever I put my Superman t-shirt on with that logo emblazoned at the center... there is bliss and excitement. There is just something about it that makes it so great. 

Maybe its like that because for me... he is real. 

Real, he is. Probably the most realistic of all the superheroes that were created. 

The Man of Steel is hope, truth, strength and justice.. He is the embodiment of everything we can look up to when life is obscured by the darkness. The one  reminder that everything is possible and that we should always try no matter how hard our obstacles are; that there is always a way; that we should never succumb to our past failures; that there is a light at the end of every dark tunnel.

He knows exactly what to do - and that is to do what is right. And he never doubts himself. And I think that these things are what we are striving to do or trying to be in our lives. 

I always believed that its not the powers that makes Superman a great hero. It has been always his ideals, his morals and his beliefs that made him.

Superman's greatness lies in INSPIRATION.

That's why he will forever be the greatest comic book character of all time.

And he is not just seen in fiction, movies or comic books. The fact is, he is not that hard to find at all. 

He's exists in every human being that breathes life on Earth... in every one of us.. just waiting to be discovered.
